I hope you all had a fantastic long weekend – and that some of you broke in your backyard and BBQ like we did! The fact that we’re on the verge of summer is making me super distracted, so I’m glad we got to indulge in a little sunshine and entertaining with friends as a way to kick of the first of many long evenings…
I set up the fire pit complete with blankets and ‘crash sacks‘ for people to cozy into as the evening cooled off. I also put together that genius tray situation on a crate we had in the basement. Fancy, I know.
Our bar was stocked with a bucket full of rosé and beer, and I threw together a little mixture of lemonade and mint for a refreshing drink (vodka optional!). Easy for everyone to help themselves to!
Once friends started showing up, everyone got comfy on the lawn! (The BBQ wouldn’t have been complete without a little Noodle appearance. So stoked to have Joanna back in Seattle!)
Oh, and we made some fern and floral crowns. Because, why not? Our yard is bursting with flowers right now, and I also picked up some peonies at the store… it seemed like the perfect little activity.
We strung a few up and wore them all night! Want to know the easiest way to make these? All you need is some thicker string, and some really thin wire. You just wrap the wire around the stem, and then attach the flower or fern with a second wire to the string and tie it around your head. Yep, it’s REALLY that easy.
My friend Jess is a babe in this fern crown.
As the day turned into night, J got the fire going and I decided it was time we tried out some modeling poses in our crash sacks.
I am obsessed with this thing. I will be wearing it and sleeping in it every camping trip we take this summer. I am a total wuss in the mornings when it comes to crawling out of the tent. I love that it tucks up in the back too, so no dragging the sleeping bag on the ground.
The boys discussed the all-important topic of proper fire-building form while we cozied up to the flames and talked late into the night…
I’m very certain this is just the first of many backyard moments we’ll be having this summer, and I cannot wait for more! All of the set up was made way easier with the use of our chairs, rug and table from evrgrn!
